Sant Satguru Gurdev Singh ji,Holy Saint,leader of Shri Ramayan sect of Valmiki Panth and author of the holy book Shri Ramayan Ad Dharm Granth.

Sant Gurdev Singh ji was born in Pakistan.In the area of 98 chak.His mother was Sant Kaur and His father was Sardar Mugghar Singh Gill ji.Sant Gurdev Singh ji was of Mazhabi Sikh caste.His family consisted of 4 brothers and two sisters.In Pakistan His family had a coal producing business but at the time of partition they had to leave this and go to the Malwa side of the Punjab.In the village of kapure in the Moga district.
Coming from a Mazhabi sikh family Sant Gurdev Singh ji possessed no knowledge whatsoever on Bhagwan Valmiki But as a young child Sant ji had a vision of Bhagwan Valmiki.His mother used to believe in Valmik.She used to light a four cornered diva on the small shrine she had built out of mud.One day she had put him to sleep by the shrine.And sant ji then saw a Valmik appear before him.Valmiki told him that he would fulfill a task for him.
Most dalits in the villages followed sikh religion and were Mazhabi Sikhs instead of Valmiki's.
Sant Gurdev ji was not sent to school as a child.He used to go to school to take lunch for his brothers.Sant Gurdev ji was illiterate but always had a great hunger for knowledge.
Sant Gurdev singh ji worked on the farms of the local landowners like most Mazhabi sikhs.He worked on the farms for 8years,when he was 18 he got married to his bride Jaswant Kaur Gill ji.Sant ji was fearless and strong and had a passion for sports and working hard.Sant ji realised that he didn't want to be workng for landowners.He wanted to equal,he wanted to make something of his life,he widn't want to be looked down on by anyone,he wanted to be equal to the landowners.
Sant ji then decided to join the army,so he did and left Kapure and enlisted.He was in the army for 5 years.Whilst in the army he used to recite the Adi Granth Sahib in the Gurdwara tents.Sant Gurdev Singh ji at this time was passionate about the Sikh religion and was a great granthi of the Guru Granth Sahib.He still did not know about Bhagwan Valmik at this time.
After 5 years had passed,Sant Gurdev ji's father urged him to leave the army and return back home,so Sant ji had to leave the army and went back to Kapure.Sant ji used to visit his father in law sardar Kehar Singh ji.It was from his father in law that he started to gain knowledge on Bhagwan Valmik.
Sant ji stayed another 6 months in kapure and then decided to leave for Malaysia.When first arriving in Malaysia he worked on a Coconut farm until a friend of his told him he could get him a job in the police force.Sant ji took it up and worked Ten years in the Malaysian Military police.Sant Ji used to be the treasurer of the local Gurdwara.Sant ji used to take prisoners to chop wood in the forest.he used to supervise them while they did this.One day he took the prisoners to he forest and while there he heard a voice coming from deep in the forest.It was calling his name.He decided to follow the voice,But what was he going to do about the prisoners?.There was one prisoners who Sant ji considered trustworthy.he was a Muslim.Sant ji handed him the rifle and told him to keep an eye on the rest of the prisoners while he went into the forest.
Sant ji ran deep down into the forest following that voice,until he reached it.He glanced upwards and saw a light shining from above.he carried on glancing at this light,eager to find out what this light was.All of a sudden he saw something coming down from above.It was a chariot.It was approaching closer,and finally landed.Sitting in the throne at the top of the chariot was Bhagwan Valmiki ji.Sitting underneath Bhagwan Valmik was Brahma,Vishnu and Shiva ji.Sant ji was overwhelmed by this divine vision and immidiately dropped to the ground and praised the almighty Valmik.Valmik then spoke to him and ordered him to write the Ramayana.He explained to sant ji that his Ramayana is no more on this earth instead it has been injected with false stories and is corrupted with filth so he would have to compose the Ramayana which holds the truth.But Sant ji was confused how could he write such a thing,how could he write the holiest of all holy books.Valmik then blessed him.It was from this day that sant ji was informed of his sacred task.
After two years had passed sant ji then decided to leave for England to better himself even more financially.it was in the country of England that it was meant for the Shri Ramayan to be composed.Sant ji first arrived in the town of Bambury and worked on the farms.He then moved to Wolverhmapton and worked hard for ten years in the Goodyears Tyre producing factory.At the age of 43 sant ji stopped working and took up writing the Shri Ramaya Ad Dharm Granth.While writing the Shri Ramayan Ad Dharm Granth he used to have divine visions of Gods and godesses and holy prophets.All of these he included in the Shri Ramayan Ad Dharm Granth.It took 14 years to write and after writing,he got it at the Chattar Singh,Jivan Singh Gurmukh printing press.The Shri Ramyan Ad Dharm granth recieved certificates from many people.Even indira gandhi awarded sant ji with a certificate for this granth.After publishing he handed out copies to Valmiki sangat.It was from here that the folowing of Sant Satguru Gurdev Singh ji started.And sant ji used to have satsangs all over the punjab,Mainly in the ferozpur,Moga and Amritsar districts.At the Satsangs people would come to recieve the sacred water and fruit.The devotees would give offerings of money at Satsang(holy congregation).Sant Gurdev ji refused to take any of this and handed it all over the the commitees which devised the satsangs.
Sant Satguru Gurdev Singh ji was a great Saint,and fulfilled the tak of writing the true Ramayana which portrays the truth and nothing but the truth.
