T. Samaya Murali (born 29 November 1982) is an Indian civil servant, author, filmmaker, and music composer. A member of the Indian Revenue Service (IRS), he has contributed to the fields of customs and indirect taxation, literature, and Tamil cinema. Early Life and Education Murali earned a Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) degree in Chemical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, in 2003. He joined the Indian Revenue Service in 2008 after qualifying in the Civil Services Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in 2007 Career Indian Revenue Service Murali has served in various anti-evasion and investigative roles within the IRS. He has participated in operations under the Central Excise, Customs, COFEPOSA, and Goods and Services Tax (GST) Acts. In 2021, he was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the World Customs Organization for his contributions to customs enforcement .
