Salman Arif

Salman Arif () is a Bengali Australian actor, film maker. Known for: I am in love, Dohon, Shikor, Probash Jibon, Hello Australia etc.,
He is a graduate of film school of Swinburne University of technology, Melbourne. He has done acting training with NIDA (National institute of dramatic arts) and 16th street actors studio.
Salman continuously distributes his short films on Facebook. His contents generally get views by over 100,000 people.
Early life
Salman Arif was born in Narsingdi, Bangladesh on 12 September 1990. He grew up in a small village call Jahangir nagar before he moved to Dhaka to study at Notre Dame College. After year 12 he was accepted in University of Dhaka to study political science but he decided to go to Australia.
Career
While studying at Swinburne University, Salman’s script “I am in love, 2015” was selected from 100s to make the final year film. The film was shown later in the year in ACMI theatre, Melbourne.
Salman’s acting study at NIDA earned him an agent and he started to work as an extra in different Australian TV shows and commercials. Later on He’s got involved in Melbourne Fringe Festival and played Donald Trump, KKK, ISIS member etc. in “World War T”. He played a flat, monotone, librarian character in the play “Waiting for waiting for Godot”.
Salman continuously works on short films. His notable short films are Shikor (2017), Dohon (2016), Quartervois (2016), And I am an addict (2016), The third eye(2015) Probash Jibon (2015), Dui chakar gari (2014) Breach (2013) etc.
Film making
While studying at Swinburne he made documentaries Liz and Sue (2013) and Why do volunteers help the dying (2014). He directed and produced short films Cheap (2013), Road never bends (2014) and I am in love (2015). Later when he finished studying he made documentary on 21st Feb, “International Mother language Day” (2015).
