Russell A Alder

Russell A Alder (born 1973 in Sunderland, United Kingdom), is a British born international glass entrepreneur, software developer, and mathematician. He pioneered advanced glass bending technologies in Arkansas in the United States and cofounded international bent glass firm of Precision Glass Bending Corporation in Greenwood, Arkansas. He is known for Alder's Formula which is a single formula allowing calculation of the radius of a circle from a given arc and chord sharing identical endpoints, provided such endpoints do not exceed a central angle of 180 degrees, or half the circumference of a full circle.
Russell was born in Cleadon, Sunderland, England. He attended Southside High School in Fort Smith, Arkansas and Klassika Lukio in Kuopio, Finland. He lived in Yeppoon, Queensland, Australia and attended Central Queensland University in Rockhampton. Russell graduated with honors in Asian Studies from the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia before returning to his residence in the United States.
