Luis A. Cordero; was born December 15, 1964, is a Cuban-American attorney, writer and entrepreneur best known as the founder of Cordero & Associates law firm located in Miami, Florida. Cordero is also a former president of the South Florida Chapter American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). Cordero published the book named Attaining & Maintaining Status In The United States in 2010. He was born in the Havana suburb of San Jose de Las Lajas, Havana, Cuba to Ciro Cordero and Mercedes Sigler. He left Cuba at the age of seven, when he immigrated to Spain. He lived in Madrid for the next two years and at the age of 9 immigrated to the United States. He first lived in Miami, Florida, but soon thereafter moved to Jacksonville, Florida where he remained for approximately 3 years. He then moved to New Jersey where he completed elementary; then attended Memorial High School in West New York, New Jersey. Upon graduation, he was accepted to and attended Rutgers University. He graduated Rutgers with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting and with honors in Economics. In 1987, he moved to Miami, Florida, where he currently resides with his family. At that time he attended the University of Miami, School of Law, graduating in 1990 with the degree of Juris Doctor. That same year he was admitted to the Florida Bar. Cordero immediately started work at a boutique immigration law firm, first while attending law school and continuing after graduation. He ultimately left that firm, after being promoted to named partner and joined the international law firm of Holland & Knight as a partner of that firm. Cordero has received many awards and recognition in the immigration field. Cordero has practiced immigration law since 1990, when he was admitted to the bar. After many years of working in a multinational firm, he established his own law firm, Cordero & Associates. On confidential opinions from the Bar and Judiciary members, he received ‘‘AV Preeminent’’ from Martindale-Hubbell, which is the highest rating for reliability, diligence, professional standards of conduct, ethics, legal ability and other criteria relevant to the discharge of professional responsibilities. Cordero is an immigration law attorney. He is fluent in English and Spanish and has a working knowledge of Portuguese. Cordero & Associates, his law firm, assists corporations and individuals like entrepreneurs, investors and other high-net-worth individuals; artists and entertainers; scientific and technical professionals; and students with immigration services throughout the United States, Latin America and Europe.
