Ross Grant

Ross Grant (Born 1 April 1970, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire) is a politician.
Education
He attended Lancaster School and later Wyggeston and Queen Elizabeth I College sixth form. He read for a Bsc. Combined Honours: Society and Government/Urban Policy and Management at Aston University.
Political History
He first ran for office in city wide elections in Leicester in May 2003, standing in Knighton, Leicestershire , but was unsuccessful. He was the election agent for Chris Heaton-Harris, the Conservative candidate in the Leicester South by-election, held on July 5, 2004. In November 2004, he was elected to Leicester City Council for the Knighton ward, a position he still holds having been re-lected in 2007 .
Sixth months after becoming a Councillor he was appointed to Leicester City Council's cabinet in the Conservative Liberal-Democrat coalition as Lead for Efficiency.
In May 2009 he became Leader of the Conservative Group on Leicester City Council.
In July 2009 he was selected as the Conservative parliamentary candidate for the seat.
In February 2010 he was given an award as the Online Councillor of the Year at the inaugural LGIU C'llr Achievement Awards.
