Chris Took

Christopher James Took (born 13 May 1980) is a British politician. He is the approved Liberal Democrat candidate for the constituency of Ashford, Kent, and a former Councillor in the City of Canterbury. He will contest the general election against incumbent Conservative MP Damian Green in 2010.
Biography
Took was born in Bridgend, South Wales in 1980, the third of four brothers. His parents are both teachers and still live in South Wales. Took was educated at local Catholic primary and secondary schools before moving to the United States to complete his secondary education.
He studied European Politics at the University of Kent at Canterbury, graduating with a 2:1 BA Hons in June 2002. In August 2004 he married Josie Verrill, whom he met at the University.
He and Josie live in the Kennington area of Ashford.
Took has completed more than 100 races for charity, including The Kent Marathon in September 2006.
He has played rugby for Ashford RFC's 4th team and is captain of Ashford five-a-side football team PageSuite FC.
Political career
In May 2003 Took was elected as the youngest ever Canterbury City councillor, winning the seat of Barton by a single vote. The result was one of the closest ever seen, involving a total of five recounts. The result meant that a Liberal Democrat - Labour coalition formed the council administration.
Took stood as a parliamentary candidate for the first time in 2005, contesting the seat of Ashford in Kent. He was selected to contest the same seat in 2007.
Professional career
Took is the Sales Director for PageSuite, a software solutions provider based in Kent.
