Chessammo

This article is about the chess set known as ChessAmmo, based on the Western board game.
ChessAmmo is a unique board game played between two players. It is played on a clear acrylic chessboard measuring just under 10x10", which contains 64 1" squares arranged in an eight-by-eight grid. At the start, each player controls sixteen solid brass or aluminum pieces that are fashioned after real caliber bullets: one king(30-06), one queen(45-70Gov), two rooks(50AE), two knights(454Casull), two bishops(7.62x39mm), and eight pawns(9mm). The object of the game is to checkmate the opponent's king, whereby the king is under immediate attack (in "check") and there is no way to remove or defend it from attack on the next move.
The unique chess ammo pieces in this set are meant to be used in playing the game known as chess only. It is not advisable to insert the pieces in any sort of pistol, revolver, rifle, shotgun, cannon, mortar, uzi, Saturday-night special, howitzer, peacekeeper, musket, peashooter or any such device.
Chessammo was established in 2009 as part of a diversification plan of a small machine shop located in the Bay Area of Northern California. Due to the economy's decline at the time, survival of the company depended upon new ideas, innovative products, and creative ways to keep the company and it's employees engaged in an optimistic and forward thinking state. The Chessammo chess set has been seen as a clever way to bring a fresh and modern look at a centuries old game.
