Rosetta Pebble

Rosetta Pebble is an acoustic folk pop ensemble based in Detroit, Michigan.

Rosetta Pebble began as a two man song-writing collective during the summer of 1999. The members, Steve Gulian and Eric Frakes joined to showcase for their musical ideas and carefully wrought lyrics. They play acoustic guitar and sing lead vocals by turns, with the other handling the percussion, miscellaneous instruments, and harmony vocals. One distinctive feature of the band is the sound of James Gross’ viola, heard on many songs.

Longtime friends and Detroit musicians, the duo actually began performing together in Europe in the summer of 1999. Gulian was traveling westward following a year of teaching in a remote mountain village on the island of New Guinea, and Frakes had been on holiday in Germany. Each was armed with a guitar and a notebook full of songs. Their 2002 debut CD, Stories That The World Once Told, is the junction of these two less-traveled roads. The journey continues with Clear Across Summer, released in the fall of 2005.

The group consists of three instrumentalists:
* Steve Gulian (guitar, drums, vocals)
* Eric Frakes (guitar, drums, vocals, harmonica)
* James Gross (viola)

All band members are teachers in the public schools of Grosse Pointe, Michigan.

Rosetta Pebble has released two CDs: Stories That The World Once Told, their debut CD, was released in 2002 and Clear Across Summer, released in 2005.
