Romania and the Mongol Invasion of 1241

In 1241, when the Mongol Invasions occured, Transylvania, a part of the actual Romanian territory, was part of the Hungarian Empire. Other parts of the actual Romania were Walachia, Moldavia and Dobrogea. The Mongol invasion affected first of all Moldova and Wallachia and had a big impact on the Romanian history and culture and had destroyed all cultural and economical records from that time.
Against Romania - Transilvania, Walachia, Moldavia, Dobruja (1241)
The Mongol Hordes made their entrance in Europe through the northern part of Moldavia, on the territory of actual Romania and their target was the Hungarian Empire. The romanian people of the plains had no chance against the hordes and, taken by surprise, had to retreat and hide in forests and caves of the Carpathian Mountains.
The Mongol Invasion of Hungary and Romanian space
Nogai Khan led an invasion of Hungary alongside with Talabuga. Nogai lead an army that ravaged Transylvania with success, where cities like Reghin,Brassó- and Beszterce-BistriÅ£a were plundered and ravaged. However Talabuga, who led an army in Northern Hungary, was stopped by the heavy snow of the Carpathians and the invading force was defeated near Pest by the royal army of Ladislaus IV and ambushed by the Székely in the return.
