Rocky Mountain Radar

Rocky Mountain Radar is company that produces aftermarket electronic products. Rocky Mountain Radar was founded in 1989 in Colorado as a consumer electronics company specializing in automotive after market products by Mr. Michael Churchman. Their early models included the Phantom, Spirit, Phazer, Eclipse and Illusion. They also did OEM work and made a model called the Barrier RDR.
In the mid to late 1990s they sold the Spirit II, Phazer and Phantom (which combined a detector and scrambler). In 1995, Rocky Mountain Radar moved its research and marketing departments to El Paso, Texas. Soon after Rocky Mountain Radar consolidated its operations and expanded into a 5,000 sq.ft. Texas facility. Where it currently has been since their move to El Paso, Tx.
The Spirit II was the subject of FCC scrutiny in the late 1990s and declared illegal. Around this time the Phazer was highly marketed and became what was probably the company's most popular product. Following this Rocky Mountain Radar began marketing radar detectors made in Korea by Attowave under their KAT brand — in addition to the company's own line of Rocky Mountain Radar products which were manufactured in the US; however, The KAT models are no longer available, and currently, all RMR products are manufactured in the US. They then released models such as the Phantom II, Phazer II, RMR-C302, Black Widow remote system and others. The C450 also was made illegal by the FCC and no longer available.
This led to an investigation by ABC 20/20 News, CBS Good Morning and other news outlets who aired a report showing that these products were totally ineffective at any type of scrambling or jamming.
