Dintis Thomas is an Indian business man and Managing Director of Dintis Technologies Pvt. Ltd. an Industrial Automation Company he founded after working in the same industry for more than 20 years. During his career, Dintis held senior positions in Production, Planning, Quality Control and International Accreditation departments. Dintis is one of the best-known entrepreneurs of the non contact non destructive measurement area from India. In the later stages of his career, Dintis has pursued a number of technological initiatives and scientific research programs through his newly formed companies and is very active in the field of non contact measurement since 2002. In June, 2008, Dintis shifted his base from New Delhi to Bangalore, the software capital of India. He gradually shifted his focus to full time R & D and setup a center at Yelahanka, Bangalore for the same. He transferred most of his other duties to his second tier managers and become a full time scientific researcher. Early life Dintis was born in July 1969O in a small town called Kottayam in the State of Kerala, India to Kalrickal Ouseph Thomas and Annamma Thomas. His family was a lower middle class; his father was a factory worker and his mother a house wife. He was the only son of his parents spent most his child hood at Kochi (Cochin). At the age 13 he lost his parents in an accident and moved to Maharashtra along with his parish priest and enrolled in the Kendriya Vidyalaya school. He did all kind of odd jobs to meet his expenses and tuition fees and was a good meritious student. He went on to do his Engineering in Electronics and later his Masters in Sales and Marketing while continue to work. When he was at Hyderabad working with a Telecom Cable manufacturing company first time got a chance to work with advance computer programs and kept on learning new programming languages as a hobby along with learning many languages spoken in India. Dintis later changed his line to quality control and SPC, ISO, TPM and TQM become a way of his life and his interest in non destructive testing and inspection started growing day by day. Later he started concentrating on Non Contact type of measurements and started his studies on technologies available in the field of Laser, Ultrasonic, Eddy Current, X-Ray and NIR. Same time he continued his passion for learning new computer programs and started looking at those programs to make customized applications for his day to day measurement and control applications. This is time he finished his management course and was looking for a change for his job from a manufacturing level to that of sales and marketing and a right opportunity knocked at his door when he saw an advertisement for a product manger post for a multinational company to be based out of New Delhi, India. He jumped at this opportunity and as part of his job started travelling to the nook and corner of the country to different industries ranging from Steel, Copper, Rubber, Glass, Plastic, Automobile and Wood Industries and got a chance to closely monitor the inspection and measurement equipments used everywhere and his urge to do something of his own started developing. Getting in to Business At the same time the industry started plunging to a recession and his parent company decided to close shop in India and move to a franchisee/agent model. He along with his current team decided to buy out the parent company operations in India and they started their operations from the very same office. But his partners could not cope with the pressure and lower level of revenue and his boss first opted out of this new setup and he and his other partners decided to move on with the firm. They started doing very well and then started the problems too. His partner started doing business out of the way and start collecting money for many transactions to his personal accounts and many of his personal expenses was billed to the company including un related foreign trips and his lavish spending outside. This was initial cracks in the otherwise smooth running business and the differenced started growing day by day and the relation come to an end and Dintis walked out of his office without taking back a single penny including his own investments and shares in his company. His partner owns him so much of money which they could not pay him till date and he told his partner to pay as and when he is capable of! After the split Dintis launched his first company in 2006 and captured the market from his erstwhile partner and become a formidable player in the non contact, non destructive measurement and control market in India. He joined hands with some of best known international players in this field and started offering one of the most feature rich products in the market and continued his efforts on R & D of new products and applications. Dintis company, after growing at 100% rate for past three years have embarked a new journey to manufacture some of these very high end products first time in India. Today, all employees have broad responsibility for the growth company's business. Dintis oversees the business details, but continued to empower his group of trusted, handpicked people to take decisions and move forward as well. He personally reviewed every business line of the company and often rewrote the strategy and business goals as he saw fit. Now they are preparing the ground works to move to a new own office premises with all R & D and infrastructure facility to catapult the growth story they followed till now. Dintis now oversees his company's restructuring process and bringing up his first layer managers to manage the business independently. Dintis now concentrates more on the company's product strategy, broadening company's range of products and to make his company's product as one of the most feature rich, robust and cheapest one in comparison with his competitors. In early 2009 company has ventured into overseas markets and now looking at growing this market many fold. Private life He spends most of his quality time on reading technical articles and following up with the latest developments taking place in the advance sensor products and occasionally travels to meet his friends and family members. He has very few friends and all of them share a very close bond with him and most of them are known to him for more than 20 years. He is married and has two wonderful daughters who are now in schools. Dintis is very font of his two German shepherd dogs who is always with him when he is at home. Dintis is a great cook and an avid reader. He also enjoys playing tennis and chess. Dintis is also a qualified ISO external auditor and very good driver. He often drives 500-800 Kms in one stretch and really enjoys being behind the wheels!
