Robin Bew

Robin Bew is a British economist who is the current Editorial Director & Chief Economist at the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU). He earned the title of Chief Economist in 1997 and Editorial Director in 2006. Before that, he worked for until 1995 when he joined the EIU. As Editorial Director at the EIU he is responsible for the teams which produce economic and political forecasts on every country in the world, analysis and forecasts for a number of industries and for teams in the US, Europe and Asia which undertake customised research for EIU clients.
A well known commentator on international economic trends, he is regularly interviewed on UK and global media outlets. He lectures annually at Oxford University's Business and Economics Programme and was interviewed by Jonathan Dimbleby in 2010 on the global financial crisis. His Twitter feed is regularly quoted in the financial media. He often presents the results of research projects funded by EIU clients which are being released to the media, such as the Global Peace Index and the Globe Shopper Index. He also speaks on behalf of the EIU at Economist and Eurofinance conferences.
