The Rivendell Golf Club is a public 18-hole golf course in Verona, Ontario, which is located north of Kingston. Name The course was named after J.R.R. Tolkien's elven kingdom of Rivendell. The logo for the club is a cartoonish looking elf, and the course motto is: "In the valley, where elves play." History The original 9 holes opened in 1979. In 1991, a second 9 holes were opened. In 2001 the order of the holes was changed such that holes 6 through 9 and 15 through 18 remained the same, but former holes 1 through 5 became holes 10 through 14. The course record is an eleven under par 60, set by Gord Percy. Other changes thru the years have included moving the second (Now 12th) green and moving both the fourth (Now 14) and seventh tees.
