Rick DeBruhl


Rick DeBruhl (born Richard Royal DeBruhl) is a veteren television personality for KPNX, an NBC affiliate in Phoenix Arizona. He has been a member of the KPNX staff since 1978 and since then has been a field reporter, an anchor on the stations first four o'clock show, a sports reporter, morning anchor and consumer reporter. DeBruhl has also worked for many years as a color commentator and pit reporter for several national networks including ESPN, ESPN2 and SPEED Channel.

Early Life

Rick was born in Canoga Park California in 1955 and graduated from California Polytechnic Institute in 1977. He worked briefly as an on air personality at a local radio station and then at KCOY TV in Santa Monica California, before being offered a job as a sports reporter at KPNX TV in Phoenix Arizona.


Awards

Rick has won numerous awards for reporting including three Rocky Mountain Emmys. In 1986 Valley Big Brother of the Year from the Big Brother, Big Sister Foundation. In 1998 he won the AWRT award for best reporting. In 1999 he was awarded Best Male Anchor Hair by the Phoenix New Times magazine. In 2007 he was awarded by Arizona State University's Association of Multicultural Journalism for his contibutions to consumer news reporting. Rick was also inducted into the National Acadamy of Television Arts and Science's Silver Circle in 2001.
