Francesca Vecchio

Francesca "Frannie" Vecchio is a fictional character in the television series Due South. Originally a recurring character, she was promoted to a main cast member in the show's third season. She was portrayed by actress Ramona Milano.

Francesca is the younger sister of Detective Raymond Vecchio. She lives with him, their mother, their sister Maria, husband Tony and their kids at 2926 North Octavia Avenue, Chicago. Before the series started, Francesca was married, but she was either divorced or had the marriage annulled by 1994.

Francesca fell in love with Ray's friend, Mountie Benton Fraser as soon as she met him. Fraser does not, as far as we know, share the feelings. She has been constantly trying to get him to go out with her ever since, once even arriving (uninvited) at his apartment in the middle of the night, clad in scanty lingerie. However, nothing happened between them - although Fraser, being a gentleman, refused to confirm or deny anything to Ray.

At the start of the show's third season, Ray had to go undercover in Las Vegas, and Stan Kowalski was bought to the 27th Precinct to impersonate Ray (in order to protect his cover). There was a slight spark between Frannie and her "brother", however she soon rebuffed him. She started working at the 27th as Civilian Aide, replacing Elaine Besbriss, and would often wear revealing outfits to the despair of her boss, Lt Harding Welsh.
