Cerie () (nee Xerox, current surname unknown) is a fictional character portrayed by Katrina Bowden in the NBC sitcom 30 Rock. Bowden's role was recurring in the first season; the actress was promoted to series regular at the beginning of season two. Description Cerie is Liz Lemon's personal assistant. She is also the youngest member on the show's staff but has yet to give out her age (Bowden was 18 when the series started). Much of the humor associated with her character comes from the things she says to and assumes about Liz; Cerie is always under the illusion that Liz was married. The show portrays this insensitivity as coming from her naïveté rather than any genuine malice. Cerie does not necessarily respect her boss, Liz: only when she finds out that Liz has to lay off ten percent of the staff does Cerie ask Liz if they could hang out together outside of work and claim that Liz is her role model. She also says that Liz makes "smart" look "sexy," although that was probably just sucking up to Liz during cutbacks. Cerie is lazy, however, politely declining Liz's request to get her coffee and instead preferring to lounge on the couch. At one point she takes initiative and updates some of Liz's personal files because she thought Liz told her to "be more proactive" (she was actually asking Cerie to "buy more Pro-Activ"). She is an object of desire for the mostly male staff writers on the show because of her youth and her very revealing clothing. She does not wear bras, saying her breasts hold up very well without them. Liz tries to get Cerie to tone down her attire, so as to not distract the male writers, to no avail. Cerie herself seems to be naïvely unaware of the effect she has on the male writers, thinking that Liz does not like her clothing due to her having "one of those body image things". She does care about her appearance, however; beyond her attire, when Greenzo lectures her about leaving the refrigerator door open, Cerie asks Frank, "Did he just talk to me like I was ugly?". Cerie has certain standards when it comes to dating men. She has told the staff (as part of a gag about product placement) that she only dates men who drink Snapple. Her future goals are to "marry rich and then design handbags". Cerie's mother is "like 38", which would mean Cerie was born while her mother was still a teenager, or 20 at the oldest. In the Season 4 episode "Secret Santa", Cerie claims her mother was born in 1976. Cerie has four "girl cousins" living in the Netherlands. Her cousins have figures, attire and, apparently, personalities similar to hers. Engagement Cerie became engaged after dating the unseen character Aris for five weeks ("it will be two months in three weeks"). Aris apparently "does this thing where he screams at limo drivers," which Cerie finds hilarious and thinks Liz would too. Bowden says that her character's fiancé is a "rich billionaire shipping-heir kind of guy," though this has not been stated on the show. However, he is often alluded to be wealthy; Cerie says that he would kill her if she bought a wedding dress on sale. Much to Frank's relief, she has stated that she will not cease to wear her revealing attire after her wedding. When Liz tells Cerie that she may be rushing into marriage, Cerie replies that she would only be able to be a "young hot mom" for a limited time and that she didn't want to be "like... fifty" when her children graduate from high school. If her first child is a girl, possible names include "Bookcase," "Sandstorm," and "Hat," though Cerie thinks "Hat" is "more of a boy's name." She and Aris fought because he wants a Greek Orthodox wedding and she disagrees with the Church's stance on Cyprus. Liz and Jenna have reluctantly agreed to be Cerie's bridesmaids along with Cerie's cousins and .<ref name="seinfeldvision"/> At one point the wedding seems to be called off as a year later Cerie casually mentions that she hasn't seen her fiancé in seven months, which Liz thinks is a dealbreaker for their relationship. However, Cerie reveals that Aris has returned and, due to his Stockholm Syndrome, Liz and Jenna may have to walk down the aisle with Somali pirates. The wedding occurs in the season four finale.
