Richard Henry Tompkins, Esq., B.E.M. (born August 5, 1896 in London, England; died December 14 1984 (Cambridge, England)
He was warded the British Empire Medal on January 8, 1980 by Queen Elizabeth II for meritorious service in the British Empire serving in both WWI and WWII. Mr. Tompkins continued to work until the age of 84 at the Molecular Biology Laboratory, Medical Research Council at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, England.
Military History
Enlisted on 11 October 1915 into the Royal Army Service Corps and demobilised on 16 June 1919 and placed on the z reserve list.
During WWII he was registered under emergency powers for transporting the wounded from Dover, Kent to local hospitals.
