Renée Cinderhouse

Renée Cinderhouse is installation artist and photographer from Kansas City.
Biography
In 1996 she finished Sculpture, Painting, Anthropology in the Bennington College, and in 2001 and 2002 she attended BFA Sculpture & Art History in the Kansas City Art Institute.
Cinderhouse and her husband Héctor Casanova, who is also an artist, are frequent artistic collaborators. For about eight years, they lived and worked in the West Bottoms, on the second floor of the old post office on Union Avenue.
Style
Her installations are conversations between sculptures, found objects and a distinct location. Her work begins when she steeps herself in a particular location, allowing all textures, details, scents, qualities of light and anomalies of detail to stain her sensibility. Her fascination with other people's physicality draws her to figurative and representational art, but her realist style is charged with surreal, dream-like moods.
Works
Renée Cinderhouse's sculptures and site-specific installations have been shown throughout the U.S. and abroad, most notably at the Carnegie Museum of Art, Scope Miami, artLA, The Amarillo Museum of Art and The New Bedford Art Museum.<ref name=":1" />
