The Regional Council of South Ostrobothnia is a regional municipal federation of 26 municipalities. The Regional Council of South Ostrobothnia acts as a developer and broker organisation maintained by municipalities. In compilance with the decisions of the Regional Assembly, the Regional Board and the other organs of the Regional Council, the Regional Council of South Ostrobothnia implements tasks relating to the following areas: 1. tasks according to the Regional Plan and the Regional Land Use Plan, as stated in the Land Use Act and the Construction Act, 2. tasks according to the Regional Plan, the Regional Strategic Programme and its Implementation Plan, as stated in national and EU legislation on regional policy, 3. other statutory tasks assigned to the Regional Council and 4. advocacy of the region and tasks related to culture, education and municipal affairs, assigned to the Regional Council by its member municipalities.
