Reframe It

Reframe It is a free social networking and website annotation tool that
requires the download of a Reframe It browser extension. This browser
extension is a virtual margin that allows users to comment anywhere on
the web - without the permission of the website’s owner - and to instantly view and share comments through social networks and e-mail.

With Reframe It users can highlight specific text or photos for comment, create bookmarks, import contacts, join groups, add tags and ratings, filter, follow and even reply to comments , all to create an interactive, online discussion community. Comments can also be accessed and viewed via the Reframe It website.

A Mozilla add-on, Reframe It allows users to share via Facebook, Twitter, RSS, HTML and e-mail for improved efficiency.

The name Reframe It refers to the social theory of framing. With
Reframe It’s commenting tool users can frame any online material as they see fit.

History
Bobby Fishkin founded Reframe It with engineer Brian McKinney and UVA Master of Computer Science graduate Ben Taitelbaum. The concept
of website annotation was inspired by Bobby’s studies at Yale of marginalia in Shakespeare’s works .

The company was officially launched October 8, 2008.
