Rebbeca

Rebbeca are a young indie/rock band from Liverpool. They have grown a considerable following given the age of the members, with a strong fan base in and around Liverpool. They are known for their exciting live performances at concerts and the 2007 V festival.

The indie music magazine NME described them as an "intricate blend of elements of The Killers, a more savage, blistery Coldplay and, on Public Face, seriously loud echoes of Queen"

There is often confusion amongst fans as to why the band's name is spelt "Rebbeca". Lead singer Tom commented on his blog that "we actually took the band name from the hebrew meaning of Rebbeca, which is 'bound'".

Music by Numbers - 2008

In 2008, the band finished work on their debut album entitled "Music by Numbers". It has 11 tracks plus a secret one as part of the last song. It was released free of charge in a manner similar to that of the Arctic Monkeys who achieved a massive following online before they released their first album.

Performances

Rebbeca have appeared at venues across the UK in the last few years, including a series of headlining slots in Liverpool. They are scheduled to play their debut album in full at Liverpool's Carling Academy on 30th May 2008. In addition to this they have appeared at the Camden Barfly several times.

The band supported the Wombats at many venues in 2007.

Festivals

Rebbeca appeared at the 2007 Virgin Mobile V Festival opening the Union tent on the Saturday at Chelmsford and the Sunday at Staffordshire. The band played a 5 song set concluding with "What you will get". Afterwards the band spoke of their joy at playing to a larger crowd and met such famous names as Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins of the Foo Fighters and Brandon FLowers, the lead singer of the Killers.

They have hinted that they may appear at another festival in 2008.

Radio

Rebbeca are yet to achieve mainstream success and as such have not received much airtime. However, they were featured on Xfm's Manchester and Glasgow stations and "Millionaire" from their debut album can be requested on the station.

The band played an exclusive gig for BBC mersyside at their Liverpool studios on Friday 7th March.

Myspace

The band, like many others of its kind, is heavily dependent on the website Myspace. In 2007, the domain on their myspace expired and was occupied by another user. Though the band did receive it back, they lost all information gathered on the page and over 50000 "friends".
