The Murderbirds

The Murderbirds

A rockin' Melbourne based outfit fronted by Kelly Fraser. Formed in 2006 the band is gearing up for the release of it's debut album release in early 2008. The Murderbirds are,

Kelly Fraser: Guitar/ Vocal
Ryan Parle: Bass/ Vocal
Dylan Thorpe: Drums/ Vocal

Hard edged, energetic and full of intent the bands sound is grown from a wide variety of influences. Most notably are the influences of Bob Dylan, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and The Stooges. With at times three part harmonies the band also shows a different side. Interleaved with the energetic rock shop style are thoughtful ballads reflecting on society, politics and relationships.

Touring/ Gigging
Although a relatively new band The Murderbirds have already played a number of Rockin' shows. July 13th 2007 The Murderbirds played their first show with current bass player Ryan and drummer Dylan to a full house headlining The Ding Dong Lounge for the Black Friday show. Aptly supported by Blake Scott and the Festival of Stable Living (see triplejunearthed.com, link below) and Geelong band The High Heals it was an impression well worth leaving to the may punters in the crowd. See indieinitiative in extrenal links for a review of this show.

Saturday the 29th of September 2007 saw The Murderbirds play again with the High Heals at the Barwon Club, a night of pure revelry given that the Geelong Cats had just one their first AFL premiership in many, many years.

The Murderbirds then toured to Adelaide with Dirty York playing The Crown and Anchor on Friday the 19th of October and then Saturday the 20th of October they played The Governor Hindmarsh Hotel with local band Jimmy and the Mirrors. The good people of Adelaide may also have heard them playing a live acoustic set on Radio Adelaide during the breakfast show on Friday the 19th of October.

History
The members of this band all have various past music projects and experiences but probably the most notable would be Kelly's past project "Streetkid Vandal". Renowned around Melbourne for wild on stage performances, Street Kid Vandal still holds a place among the fond memories of Melbourne punters.
