Ranjan Kumar Singh is an author-photographer with more than thirty years of experience in print and audio-visual media. He started his career with the Navbharat Times (Times of India Group) and served for eighteen years before switching over to audio-visual media. He was the consultant for the feature film Aamir that was appreciated by media and general audience alike. He himself has written,produced and directed more than a dozen feature films, documentaries and docufeatures for various TV channels and government / non-government agencies. He represented India in the Third World Archaeological Congress to present a paper on "Theft and Smuggling of Antiquities" and has also directed a film on the subject. He went to the University of Oslo to study 'Art in Norway' and has travelled far and wide to give lectures on various aspects of Indian Culture and Archaeology. One of his most remarkable journeys was along the Line of Control that he undertook in 1999 to capture the essence of life in the disturbed land. This journey culminated into an eight episodes serial ‘Ek Duniya Sarhad Ki’ for Doordarshan and also a book ‘Sarhad: Zero Mile’. The book won an award by the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. He is the founder editor of Vishwa, a magazine published from the USA. He is on the Advisory Board of Advantage Media Academy, Patna and also teaches journalism in esteemed institutions like the Ranchi University and Kendriya Hindi Sansthan. Besides, he has developed courseware for various departments of IGNOU. He is also the Treasurer of the Takshila Educational Society that runs Delhi Public Schools in Patna, Pune and Ludhiana. An exhibition of his photographs on the Monuments of Delhi was organized by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts in 2008. Yet another such exhibition was organized by the Shahjahanabad Redevelopment Corporation, Delhi. He has six published books to his credit and has contributed to several anthologies and periodicals. He was a member of the Organizing Committee for the World Hindi Conference held at New York and participated in the Conference as an official delegate. He is also a member of the statutory body Babu Jagjivam Ram National Foundation.
