Randy Fagin

Randy Fagin is an American surgeon with over 1500 da Vinci Robotic surgeries since September 2004.
Even at a young age, Fagin was fascinated by skillful sleight-of-hand. By the time he was nine years old, he already was an accomplished magician and entrepreneur in western New York State with regular gigs wowing crowds at family and corporate events, colleges, and resorts in the Catskills. In addition to the “old standby” tricks, he built elaborate devices in order to perform his own originals. Magic fueled his passion for discovery and constant innovation. As successful and skilled as he was, even he could not predict how his magic would help hone his ability to perform delicate operations.
Practicing magic professionally as a boy, Randy Fagin had audiences questioning whether or not to believe their eyes. Now, as a world-renowned urologist and daVinci Robotic Prostate surgeon, Dr. Fagin’s mission is to make sure men of all ages have no illusions about important men’s health issues - from early symptoms, to diagnosis, to treatment options, to their overall quality of life.
Today, Dr. Fagin is Board-certified by the American Board of Urology, is Director of the Prostate Center of Austin, Texas, and conducts courses for an international training program in daVinci prostate surgery. He has traveled the country and the world to learn from the leaders in laparoscopic and robotic surgery, including the originators of laparoscopic prostate surgery in Paris, France. He has lectured around the world and continues to teach groundbreaking daVinci robotic techniques to surgeons from across the globe.
The daVinci Robotic Prostate Surgery performed by Dr. Fagin is the latest in cutting-edge laparoscopic surgery for prostate cancer. The daVinci robot is a tool used by Dr. Fagin to hold the laparoscopic instruments and camera, helping improve the precision, vision, and skill with which he can operate. The cure rates, urinary control rates, and post-operative erectile function for daVinci surgery patients are equal to and - in some surgeons’ hands - better than traditional open surgery.
Dr. Fagin is the founder of daVinci Prostate Surgery in Austin and Director of Robotic Surgery. As of January 2008, his total volume of daVinci Robotic Prostate surgeries ranks him as one of the world’s top-10 surgeons for the procedure.
Patients travel from all over the world to have Dr. Fagin perform their daVinci prostate cancer surgery, and he has performed the procedure “live” for international audiences of urologists at the American Urological Association’s International Meetings for the past four years. He is a contributing editor for The Journal of Robotic Surgery and a member of the teaching faculty for urological symposiums worldwide.
A frequent lecturer and medical advisor, Dr. Fagin has served as a featured medical expert on local NBC, CBS, and FOX News affiliates, and has been interviewed on ESPN and Infinity Broadcasting radio. Dr. Fagin is a member of The Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, The Endourological Society, the American Urological Association, The Society of Clinical Urologists, and the American Medical Association. He is qualified to provide commentary on a variety of men's health issues, including prostate health, cancer diagnoses and treatment options, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, erectile dysfunction, and incontinence. He resides in Austin with his wife and two children.
