Randaline Fortune

Randaline Fortune was a two year old girl who was alledgedly raped and murdered in Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa. The alledged incident took place on 2008-02-28.

Sequence of events
According to police spokesperson Billy Jones, the girl's mother, Dionique Fortune (19) went to work at a nearby spaza shop on the day in question. She had left the child in the care of her sister, Cindy Fortune (17).

At approximately 13:30 SAST, the family neighbour came to fetch the child, and had her alone with him in his home until approximately 19:30 SAST on the same day. Jones said that the neighbour then took the child home, telling her family that the child had soiled her underwear, and that he had disposed of them. There was "something wrong with the child", he said.

Randaline's grandfather, Phillip Fortune said that he could see something was wrong. The child's lips were blue and she felt cold to the touch. He immediately called the mother, requesting that she come home. The child was then taken to Elsies River Day Hospital where she was declared dead on arrival. Doctors who examined her immediately suspected her of being raped.

Randaline's funeral is due to take place on 2008-03-06 at the Sharon Assembly church in Valhallapark.
