R. Y. Deshpande

R. Y. Deshpande (born April 17, 1931) a professor, a philosopher and a disciple of Sri Aurobindo lives in Pondicherry. Deshpande is from Maharashtra. He lectured many times in India and abroad on Sri Aurobindo's philosophy and vision. After receiving his Ph.D. (1964) in nuclear physics from UC Berkeley, RYD started his career with Tata Institute of Fundamental Research and Bhabha Atomic Research Center. After taking voluntary retirement in 1980, he moved to Pondicherry.
He has headed a number of Atomic Energy and Space Projects with Raja Ramanna in Advanced Technology while working for Bhabha Atomic Research Center. He has published scientific research papers in professional journals, and numerous books in poetry and prose. R. Y. Deshpande was the associate editor of Mother India, at Sri Aurobindo Ashram in Pondicherry.
