Project BLAST

Project BLAST is a 4th Year Engineering Group Design Project (GDP) currently running at the University of Southampton. The project duration is one year and set to finish Summer 2013. Group The project group consists of nine final year masters students studying Aeronautics & Astronautics and Space Systems Engineering at the University of Southampton Mission The project aims to design and build a 1U cubesat using off the shelf, commercially available components at TRL7+, specifically a Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone. The results are to be tested at high altitude using a weather balloon and Southampton Universities High Altitude Reusable Platform (SHARP). The hope is that future groups will continue the project and launch using the European Space Agency's Vega platform. |
