The Spectra

The Spectra is University of Virginia's first undergraduate engineering research journal.
Founded in 2010, The Spectra is UVa's first undergraduate research journal for the School of Engineering and Applied Science. “Our goal for the journal is to increase the exposure of engineering research, applied science research and engineering design,” said Chris Belyea, a fourth-year Engineering student and The Spectra’s founder and editor-in-chief. “Our vision is to provide a new publication platform for students at U.Va.”
In addition to giving undergraduates a forum to publish their faculty-led research, The Spectra also hopes to advertise the work of University undergraduates to prospective students who may be seeking admission to the University’s Engineering School. To accomplish this objective, Belyea said, The Spectra will send a copy of the journal to every high school career center in Virginia.
The Spectra will be published for the first time in April of 2010.
