Phil Chalmers

Phil Chalmers is an American author and national speaker who specializes in youth culture, adolescent behavior, juvenile homicide, and school safety. He has been speaking across America and abroad to teens, teachers, and youth leaders since 1985. A law enforcement trainer, Phil is also an expert on the topic of juvenile homicide and juvenile mass murder. He began his full-fledged research in that arena in the mid 1990s.
Phil has written a few books on youth culture and produced two documentaries, including his hit seriesTrue Lies, which has been viewed by over one million people. Phil’s work has also been featured on the Montel Williams Show, the Howard Stern Show, and in People Magazine.
Inside the Mind of a Teen Killer, Phil’s latest book due for release on April 20, 2009, is an in-depth investigation into the connection between young people and violent behavior. His objective is to find out why youth offenders have committed heinous crimes and how they could have been stopped. It is no coincidence that his book release date falls on the ten year anniversary of the Columbine High School massacre.
Seminars
Phil takes a personal approach into this fascinating exploration by interviewing teen killers face-to-face. Phil says, "This is the best way to get inside the minds of violent juvenile offenders." His sphere of research expands beyond young people as he has also interacted with criminals including David Berkowitz, Charles Manson, the Hillside Strangler, and other infamous killers.
Phil's sobering work on teen murder and school violence has been well received particularly by members of law enforcement and youth educators . This has a lot to do with his edgy seminar content. Phil has received high accolades on his seminars and many of those who have heard him speak say his research and presentation is the most informative and impactful they have come across in their careers. Quote from a Detective who attended the Teen Killer seminar:
"I want to thank you for all of your help. Your ability to get William Lang to tell you what actually happened was amazing. We as investigators had interviewed him for almost 6 hours and he stonewalled us on all of the critical issues. He was very forthcoming with that information after your interview with him. Your program is a great debriefing tool for homicide investigators."
With a full speaking schedule in 2009, Phil also has many exciting things in store, including a homicide super seminar tour in 2010 with the star of the A&E crime show The First 48, former Miami homicide detective Joe Schillaci.
Phil's seminars have taken him to speak at schools, churches, police departments, and community events nationally and across the globe. Phil recently spoke with Mike from WRIF in Detroit about the rise in teen killers.
