Pratik Sinha is the founder of , a fact checking website. His fact-checking work has made him one of the most well known voices in India in the sphere of tackling fake news. Background Pratik Sinha was formerly a software engineer by profession, with his area of concentration being in wireless and embedded systems. He was based out of Vietnam. On returning to India, he launched a website called Truth of Gujarat. a Gujarat based organisation which was co-founded by his father, Mukul Sinha, who was a lawyer and human rights activist who fought mainly for communal riot victims. Career Pratik Sinha founded Altnews.in in February 2017 as an alternate news platform rather than a fact checking website. But during the time due to an increase of fake news, the focus became fact-checking and to fight "deliberate underground political propaganda". Altnews has been set up a non-profit and is funded through donations. Prominent donors have included trust as reported in Rediff.com. In 2017, Pratik Sinha was invited to the Google NewsLab Asia-Pacific Summit to discuss potential solutions to fake news.
