Maximilian John Wotell (born September 13, 1996) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Sussex County Miners of the Can-Am League. Wotell attended Marvin Ridge High School in Waxhaw, North Carolina. In his senior year, The Charlotte Observer named him their high school baseball player of the year. In May 2015, Wotell was named the 2015 North Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year. The New York Mets selected Wotell in the third round of the 2015 MLB draft. Wotell was signed for an above slot value of $775,000.00. Wotell spent 2015 with the GCL Mets where he posted a 2.53 ERA, with 16 strikeouts in 10.2 innings pitched. Wotell began 2016 with Kingsport Mets. On August 1, 2016, the Mets traded Wotell and Dilson Herrera to the Cincinnati Reds for Jay Bruce. Wotell joined the Billings Mustangs, and in 35.2 combined innings pitched between the Mustangs and Mets, he posted a 3-2 record and 5.80 ERA along with 36 strikeouts. In 2017, he played for both the Dayton Dragons and Billings, pitching to a combined 9.35 ERA in 17.1 innings pitched between both teams before a shoulder injury ended his season. Wotell was released on July 5, 2018. On March 13, 2019, Wotell signed with the Sussex County Miners of the Can-Am League.
