Pete Parise

Peter Parise (born in Bronx, New York) is a professional baseball pitcher. He currently plays for the Lincoln Saltdogs. He is a graduate of Cardinal Spellman High School and the University of Pittsburgh. He played in the Independent Frontier League out of college but his contract was purchased by the Cardinals on June 17, . From a young age through High School, Parise attended the Highlander Baseball Academy run by Joseph Cisco at Pelham Bay, in the Bronx.
Professional career
Slippery Rock Sliders
Parise began his professional career with the Slippery Rock Sliders of the Independent Frontier League. In only six games, Parise went 0-1 with 13 strikeouts and a 4.35 ERA in 10 innings pitched.
St. Louis Cardinals
On June 17, the Cardinals purchased Parise's contact from the Independent Frontier League. He began his Minor League debut with the Rookie-Level Johnson City Cardinals. He would earn his first career save in his first appearance on June 21. In four games Parise would be involved in no decisions and compiled two saves in 4 innings pitched. He was promoted to the Short-Season Batavia Muckdogs in the New York-Penn League on July 1. Parise earned his first career win with five scoreless innings against on July 22. With Batavia, Parise went 3-3 with a 4.58 ERA in 11 games, seven starts.
Parise split the season with the Class-A Advanced Palm Beach Cardinals and the Class-A Quad Cities River Bandits. He began the season with Quad Cities where he went 3-1 with 13 saves and a 2.23 ERA in 36 appearances. He held batters to a .186 average with runners on base. On July 1 he was promoted to Palm Beach. Parise would go 2-1 with a 2.25 ERA in 11 games for Palm Beach to finish the season.
In Parise would split time between the Double-A Springfield Cardinals and the Triple-A Memphis Redbirds. He began the season with Springfield Parise would go 3-1 with 29 strikeouts and a 2.88 ERA in 25 games. He was promoted to Memphis where he would go 2-1 with 31 strikeouts, eight saves and a 4.17 ERA in 32 games. Following the season, Parise was named the Memphis Redbirds 2009 Reliever of the Year.
