Postgenre, a genre in and of itself, is the postmodern approach to creating music and art in the internet age. Inherent in the postgenre ethos is a dutiful strive towards the elimination of cultural bias and stylistic limitations. The movement is a necessary result of globalization and the information age, as modern artists now have both the ability to be influenced by virtually everything in recorded human history at once and more accessible means of creation than any generation in the past has enjoyed. The modern song, as a product of everything which preceded it, sounds like none of it but celebrates the present, joining all media and styles. |
