Geomajas

Geomajas is an Open Source GIS framework for building rich web-based GIS applications.
It has extended functionality to display, edit and manage geospatial information.
Geomajas focuses on server-side integration of multiple geospatial data sources and allows multiple users to control and manage that data through the use of common web browsers.
Geomajas is a foundation framework to create applications that follow open standards as defined by the OGC and the INSPIRE directive.
In this respect, Geomajas is able to integrate data compatible with the OGC Web Map Server (WMS) specification and the OGC Web Feature Server (WFS) specification.
Supported data sources and formats are amongst others: WMS, WFS, WFS-T, ESRI shape, Google raster layer, and OpenStreetMap raster layer.
Geomajas has a modular architecture to facilitate extensibility. It enables developers to build additional modules and/or plug-ins. An example of such a module is the component-based Printing Module which was presented at FOSS4G in 2009.
Geomajas is developed in Java and is built using framework technologies such as Spring and Hibernate.
It leverages a number of other Open Source libraries like GeoTools, Hibernate Spatial, JTS, and iText.
The Geomajas Open Source Project is currently under incubation with the Open Source Geospatial Foundation (ticket #506).
Geomajas is released under the Affero GNU Public License (AGPL).
Geomajas was build by Jan De Moerloose, Pieter De Graef and others and is under active development.
