The Metal Madman Radio Show

The Metal Madman Radio Show is an internet radio show that specializes in hard rock, hair bands, power/progressive and 80's metal music. The show is broadcast live every Wednesday night from 7-10pm Eastern Standard Time. A live chat is run in conjunction with the radio show. On any given week, the listener is presented with debuts, exclusives, music and information of the bands and songs being played.
History of the show
Debut
The Metal Madman Radio Show debuted live on Dementia Radio in July 2006. It aired on Dementia Radio only twice before moving to Beyond Ear Candy, where it later became syndicated on Rock Nation Radio until the show moved to Metal Messiah Radio at the station co-owner's request. While airing on Metal Messiah Radio, theme music for the show was introduced, written by Glen Drover (ex-Megadeth, ex-King Diamond, ex-Eidolon ). New syndications followed (on CMS Radio Network, Rock Hard Radio, 95x Radio, and Knight Rider Radio) with a format that differed from the live version. These syndicated shows were pre-recorded and primarily showcased the music in The Metal Madman's library.
The music and show
The Metal Madman Radio Show plays a variety of hard rock and metal music. On Wednesdays, the day the show broadcasts live, the chat room may include band members, record producers, promoters, magazine and webzine writers, radio station owners, and fans. The Metal Madman claims an ability to fill any song request within the show's genre. Each week, the fans in chat are offered a chance to stump The Metal Madman, and to date, the host has not yet failed to fulfill a request.
The Metal Madman also shares his knowledge about the history of the bands, the musicians and the music in general, based on his association with various bands, artists and record companies over the past 20 years.
Approximately once a month, The Metal Madman Radio Show features a theme. Past theme shows have included Warriors, Dragons, Money, Madness, Fallen Heroes, Revolution and Pop Songs Gone Wild. These shows often feature the theme name in the title of the song. Recurring themes are the annual Halloween Specials and the Metal Christmas Specials. The yearly Halloween Special is a four hour session of Halloween themed music with clips from various horror movies. The Metal Christmas show consists of all new and traditional Christmas music done in the metal genre.
Today and future shows
In October of 2008, The Metal Madman acquired his own stream. Broadcasting from this stream, The Metal Madman Radio Show is hosted by six other stations. These six stations air the live show as well as syndicate the replay during the week. The Metal Madman Radio Show is always acquiring new stations for syndication. One future theme show is Hairing Aid. With the catch phrase, "They looked like ladies, but rocked the 80's", the bi-weekly show will be broadcast on a different night and time. The projected debut is scheduled for March of 2009.
History of the Metal Madman
The early years
As a musician, The Metal Madman's career began when he received his first drum set, a Gretsch, at the age of seven. After outgrowing the original kit, he moved on to a Slingerland and then a Tama Rock Star kit that carried him through all his subsequent bands. At the age of 17, he played in his first local hard rock band, Gangway (New York, 1989-1991). Other bands followed: Maxx Thrust (New York, 1991, as a fill in drummer), Lady Beware (New York, 1991-1992), Stalker (New Jersey, 1993, as a fill in gig drummer) and Mommy Dearest (New York, 1994-1996), and he wrote the music for two Mommy Dearest songs, Judgment Day and Slippin' Away.
In 2001, The Metal Madman began promoting bands and hard rock/metal music. He created the original fan site for the Norwegian band Pagan's Mind and later became the moderator of both the Firewind and Pagan's Mind message boards as well as running the official Eidolon MySpace site.
Today
With the expansion of the radio show, The Metal Madman website The Metal Madman was created. The site features information on upcoming shows, show playlists, an online shop, external links, and frequent reviews of new albums. The Metal Madman has been a long time audience member of Prog Power USA including five as a gold badge member and shares the experience with the listeners of the show.
The Metal Madman's former band Mommy Dearest has returned to the studio and a summer 2009 album release is expected with the possibility of concert dates being announced.
