The hashtag #pomonemodi trended in social media after Narendra Modi's comment in May 2016 comparing the state of Kerala to that of Somalia As a matter of fact, he had stated the infant mortality rate among the ST community of the stare is worse than Somalia (which was factually false). "Po mone" roughly translates to “Go away, boy!” Background Narendra Modi had visited the state as a part of Kerala Legislative Assembly election, 2016 campaign. On 11 May, the PM had said in Hindi to what is translated to "“The situation with the child death ratio among Scheduled Tribes in Kerala is scarier than even Somalia...." Though he didn't compare the state directly with Somalia, the death ratio mentioned was wrong Reactions The Twitterati The PM was heavily trolled post the comparsion, with the hashtag #pomonemodi being the most trending for 2days with 25,000 tweets mainly from the Keralites angered by the comparison. #Somalia subsequently followed getting 15000 Tweets in a day
