Philip Bowes

Philip Bowes (born 12 June 1984) is a British professional boxer from Leyton, England competing in the light weather-weight division.
Early life
Philip was born at Whipps Cross Hospital, East London to Jamaican parents. He is the cousin of former Arsenal F.C. striker Kevin Campbell. He attended Holy Family College, Secondary school in Walthamstow.
First walked into Champion boxing club in Walthamstow aged 12. Initially Philip excelled in the martial art of Karate, which he pursued from the ages of 11- 15 before turning his attentions to boxing after winning an boxing exhibition fight aged 14 in Champion boxing club.
Amateur career
Philip had his first amateur fight in 2004 aged 20 for Broad Street ABC. Throughout his amateur career Philip competed 35 times winning 31 times with only 4 loses.
Philip took a break from the sport between 2005 - 2008 after his first four fights to pursue academic endeavors but returned to amateur boxing fighting under Repton Boxing club and travelling the world competing.
In 2009 Philip Won a National Championship in the Class B 'novices.'
In 2010 Philip represented Jamaica at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India reaching the quarter-final stage.
Professional career
Philip turned professional on 8 October 2011.
Currently Philip is the holder of the international masters light-weatherweight title, which he won defeating Francis Mania in Bethnal Green's York Hall.
