Peter J. Zuckerman

Peter J. Zuckerman is an incumbent Town of North Hempstead Councilman, representing District Two on the Town Board since he was sworn into office in January 2014, following the resignation of former Councilman Thomas Dwyer. Peter is a member of the Democratic Party and an accomplished attorney. Before serving on the Town Board, he served as a trustee in the Village of East Hills. Peter was raised and currently resides in East Hills, New York. In his capacity as District Two's Councilman, Peter represents the villages, hamlets, and unincorporated areas of Albertson, East Hills, East Williston, Glenwood Landing, Greenvale, Herricks, Manhasset Hills, Roslyn Harbor, Searingtown, and Roslyn Country Club. Peter is up for a special election in November 2014.
Early life, education, and career
Peter grew up in East Hills, attended the Roslyn Schools, playing soccer and baseball for Roslyn High School. He graduated from Emory University and New York Law School. After college, he also clerked for State Supreme Court Judge Patricia Collins.
Prior to serving on the Town Board, Peter served his community for eleven years as a trustee for the Village of East Hills. During his tenure, he helped oversee the development of The Park at East Hills, at the former Roslyn Air National Guard Base. The park, which was completed in 2006, contains a 12,000 square foot pool, tennis courts, a state-of-the-art fitness center, a theatre, several sports fields, and a restaurant. Also during his time as a trustee, Peter helped revamp L.O.S.A.P., or the Length of Service Awards Program, the pension system for volunteer firefighters that serve the Roslyn area. He has also represented the Village as a prosecutor in Village Court.
In his private life, Peter is an accomplished attorney, practicing in the fields of real estate and litigation. Since 2004, he has been a partner in the Uniondale-based firm of Peter Zuckerman, Attorney, P.C. Peter formerly served as General Counsel to Century 21 Laffey Associates in Greenvale and currently provides legal services to the Professional Standards Committee of the Long Island Board of Realtors when requested. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Roslyn Little League and for Roslyn Booster Basketball.
He resides in East Hills with his wife and three children.
North Hempstead Town Board
Following the resignation of former Democratic Councilman Thomas Dwyer the Town Board voted to appoint Zuckerman to represent the Town's Second District (covering Albertson, East Hills, East Williston, Greenvale, Herricks, Manhasset Hills, Roslyn Harbor, Searingtown, Roslyn Country Club, and a part of Glenwood Landing), on January 28. Zuckerman was sworn into office three days later at the Harbor Links Gold Club by his "friend and mentor", East Hills Mayor Michael Koblenz.
