Peter Ellenstein is an American born director, producer, actor. Son of actor/director Robert Ellenstein and brother of actor/director David Ellenstein. Born August 24, 1961, Los Angeles. Early career as actor in stage, film and television. Starred in B-movies, appeared in regional theatre. Worked in film and television production. Became lauded stage director in Los Angeles while producing director of the Los Angeles Repertory Company (1992-99), directed the Los Angeles premiere of Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's Assassins. Since 2001 has been Artistic Director of the William Inge Center for the Arts in Independence, KS, which produces the William Inge Theatre Festival. Guest director and lecturer at numerous theatres and conferences.
