Career
Peter is the founder of the Estia Health, an Australian aged care giant. In 2016, Peter sold his shareholding in Estia for $55M.
Reports of mismanagement at Heritage Care were put in juxtaposition with the lifestyle of Avanatis and his wife by the Sydney Morning Herald.<ref name=":1" /> The paper printed photos of Arvanitis and his wife at a Melbourne Rolls Royce luxury showroom, and a photo of his wife driving a Ferrari to the gym, and posing atop a Maserati.<ref name":0" /><ref name":1" /> The CEO of Heritage Care, Greg Reeve defended Peter's management of the company saying '(Peter has) injected significant capital into Heritage Care in recent years to refurbish the homes, and significantly improve standards'.<ref name=":1" />
Heritage care has been accused by the Health Services Union of outsourcing its cleaning and catering services while cutting hours at facilities. According to the union, hours at the Heritage Botany kitchen in NSW were cut by 20 percent in 2020.<ref name=":1" /> The national president of the union Gerard Hayes said of the cuts; 'there was no engagement in that process at all for the workers, some of whom had worked for the organisation and its predecessors for 20 years. When our members are earning $22 an hour its pretty galling to see the owners driving around in Masteratis'<ref name=":1" />
