He was hired by the city of Winter Park, Florida in 2011 at the daily rate of $2,500 to consult with city officials trying to turn back an organizing drive of 150 municipal employees. The effort resulted in a July 28, 2011 vote of 116 against and 32 in favor of AFSCME representation.
In early 2014, Mr. List and other union avoidance consultants were in communication with Senator Robert Corker (R-TN) before a representation election held at Volkswagen's Chattanooga TN plant to decide if the United Auto Workers would represent workers for the purposes of collective bargaining. These books, as well as several others, blew away my ill-conceived notions about socio-economics and convinced me that there are too few defenders of freedom and free-market capitalism.”
