Perry Thomas Mansfield (born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada) is a Canadian-born otolaryngologist and head and neck surgeon based in San Diego, California. He specializes in skull base surgery, head and neck oncology, and sleep apnea treatment, and is recognized for his contributions to minimally invasive surgical techniques and regional medical programs. Mansfield has been named a Top Doctor by San Diego Magazine for 17 consecutive years and is a perennial recipient of multiple Castle Connolly Top Doctor awards. Early life and education Perry Mansfield was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He earned his medical degree (MD) with honors from the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine in 1987. Mansfield completed a comprehensive surgery internship at Toronto Hospital in 1988, followed by a general surgery residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in 1989. He pursued a clinical and research fellowship in plastic and reconstructive surgery at , University of Toronto, in 1991, and completed a residency and fellowship in head and neck surgery at the University of Toronto in 1993. Career Mansfield is board-certified in otolaryngology by the American Board of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery (1994) and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC). In 1995, Mansfield established the first regional multisystem Skull Base Surgery and Head and Neck Multidisciplinary Tumor Conference in San Diego, facilitating collaboration among specialties such as neurosurgery and radiation oncology. Mansfield is the principal investigator for a clinical trial on novel sleep apnea treatments and founded Amerisleep Diagnostics Inc., a sleep diagnostic facility serving Kaiser Permanente and UC San Diego Health. Awards and recognition Mansfield has been named a Top Doctor in otolaryngology by San Diego Magazine for 17 consecutive years (2005-2022), based on peer nominations.
