John Di Saia

John Di Saia is an Orange County California plastic surgeon and blogger. Although known locally as a doctor, his wider renown is due to his activities outside of medicine. "Dr D" is frequently quoted in the Orange County Register’s “In Your Face” blog. In 2010, he also appeared as a contestant on ABC's Wipeout. He has been featured on KABC-TV news segments in 2009 and 2010 as well as Fox and Friends in May 2011.
Dr Di Saia has been active online first writing his own web site in the early 1990s while in training and later started his popular blog CosmeticSurgeryTruth.com in 2005. Online he is known for his balanced opinion on plastic surgery. Rare in his approach is the open admission that not everyone is benefited by surgery and surgery should not be undertaken lightly. His blog also features some of his offbeat attempts at comedy such as the “Top Ten Celebrity Boob Jobs on The Internet” and his version of Sir Mix-A-Lot ’s “Baby Got Back.”
The doctor is a graduate of the University of California Irvine School of Medicine at which he completed medical school and then residency training in both General Surgery and Plastic Surgery. By 2001, he had obtained certification by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
Dr D briefly worked in academic medicine at UC Irvine Medical Center following his training moving into private practice in the late 90’s. He maintained an appointment as an Assistant Clinical Professor in Plastic Surgery at the University of California Irvine for a few years after this.
His medical publications include work in labiaplasty. The doctor was also quoted on his opinions on the labiaplasty operation in Bust magazine.
