Pelopor

Pelopor is an Indonesian word meaning "explorer, pioneer". The word is originally derived from the Dutch word voorloper (precursor).
In a historical context it is also used to refer to Indonesian anti-colonial fighters. During the Indonesian independence struggle there were several groups of active conflict, including the TNI (Military of Indonesia) from the outset by the Nationalists controlled areas, and pelopors in the areas held by the Dutch. This distinction was and is not recognized by many Dutch, so the term often incorrectly used, often in corrupted form and with a negative undertone (ploppers, peloppers).
