Peer2mail

Peer2Mail (short P2m) is a program that allows users to store and share archives in mail accounts. P2M divides the file that you want to share into segments and compresses them. Then automatically sends segments to an email account. Once P2M has uploaded all the segments of the archive, you can download the segments and use P2M to merge them to obtain the original file again.
History
Nowadays, using P2m accounts to store files is becoming more popular, because of the noticeable increase in email storage size offered by various email providers. This boosted the usage of P2m. Also other P2P programs like eMule have the disadvantage that they don’t always provide a high download speed. The reason is that the speed of download is dependent on the number of download seeds.
Despite of the advantage of steady speed download of P2m as if compared to other P2P programs like eMule, a P2m disadvantage is that target file is only present in one place, which is the email account that the file was originally uploaded to. This disadvantage could be fully eliminated by using programs like Mail Resender. This program is used to easily create more mirrors for the same uploaded file.
Operation
P2M works the following way: the files are divided in segments that are loaded into the email server of an email provider (the most used are , Gmail and ). The segments usually are not greater than 10mb in size and the total sum of all segments should not exceed the maximum size of the email capacity dictated by the email provider.
To download files, P2m is provided with the username and the encrypted password of the email containing the archive files, and then it downloads all the segments to the user’s machine. Finally, it merges all of them to produce the original file uploaded.
