Paul Dimitriu is a French Romanian-born jurist, publicist, politician and writer. Born on May 21, 1920 in Bucharest. He studied at the Saint Sava National College and thereafter the Faculty of Law of the University of Bucharest. He was awarded his doctor’s degree by the same Faculty. He entered politics in the National Liberal Party, working as editor at the “Viitorul” newspaper, also starting his practice as lawyer. After the rise to power of the communist regime he was arrested twice and was forbidden from practising law. He was able to emigrate to France settling in Nice where he was associate professor at the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, teaching political futures studies. He also practised law in France. Paul Dimitriu published various articles on law and history related subjects. He also published two volumes of memoirs under the title “Exercises of memory”.
