Patty Howell, Ed.M., A.G.C. (aka Patricia F. Howell, born Martha's Vineyard Island, MA, 1943) is a Relationship and Marriage Educator who serves as Vice President of Operations and Media Relations for Healthy Relationships California, a nonprofit organization that works throughout California to deliver Relationship and Marriage Education classes. She regularly presents at professional conferences and consults on topics pertaining to Relationship and Marriage Education both nationally and internationally. Howell, along with her husband, Ralph Jones, are the co-authors of World Class Marriage (published by Rowman & Littlefield, May 2010, and is also published in 10 countries overseas). Howell and Jones developed the World Class Marriage workshop for couples, a 16-hour skills-based curriculum that is taught as one of Healthy Relationships California's curricula, as well as elsewhere. Howell and Jones have taught relationship skills to thousands of couples, parents, teachers, business leaders as well as certification training workshops to professionals in 14 countries around the world. Patty Howell is the author of a monograph entitled "The Case for Relationship Education" as well as a series of six Healthy Marriages booklets that contain research citations showing the links between healthy marriages and key social outcomes (published by California Healthy Marriages Coalition, 2008-2010). Howell is a 2010 Smart Marriages Impact Award winner for these booklets. Her committee also created the 1400-bush Sino-American Friendship Rose Garden in Wuhan, China. She served for more than ten years as the founding president of the Pacific Rim Parks nonprofit organization that has built a unique chain of parks linking nations of the Pacific Rim and built by architecture students from the U.S., Mexico, China, and Russia, under the guidance of internationally-renowned artist James Hubbell. Education Howell graduated from Northfield School for Girls (now Northfield Mt. Hermon, in Northfield, MA), and received an A.B. from Drew University (Madison, NJ) in 1965. In 1966, she received an Ed.M. from Boston University in Guidance and Counseling, and in 1970 an Advanced Graduate Certificate in Counseling Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis.
