Patrick Sherry was the lead singer of up and coming British rock group Bad Beat Revue. Bad Beat Revue formed in 2002 and began to build a following on the club circuit. On July 20, 2005, they were asked to perform at the Warehouse Club in Leeds after another band pulled out a few hours before the concert. During the performance, Sherry jumped up to grab a lighting fixture, but according to one eyewitness: "I don't know whether he caught it or not but his momentum carried him forward and basically he went upside down and hit the floor head first. The whole thing lasted about five seconds, it was horrendous." Sherry was taken to the hospital with severe neck and head injuries, and died the next day. He left his wife, Charlotte, who was said to be "devastated" by his death.
