Parkville nature sanctuary

The Parkville Naturure Sanctuary is a nature conservation area in Parkville, Missouri. The nature sanctuary borders the town's college, Park University, and Riss Lake Neighborhood. The sanctuary contains a waterfall, trails, a swamp, forest, and prairie biome, and has multiple streams that course through it, the most notable being the Rusty Stream. This stream holds a great deal of significance in Parkville for its link to multiple deaths and disappearances of children in the 19th century during the founding of the town. All of these folk tales share a commonality with the children playing or touching the water of the Rusty Stream, following with the disappearance and sometimes death of the children. It is considered bad luck to enter the stream today in Parkville, which is why the nature sanctuary no longer maintains a trail that leads to the stream.
